Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), which caters to domestic flights, you will be greeted by a representative from Marine Adventures. You will be driven to your accommodation in Arusha, where you will spend the night in preparation for your exciting wildlife safari the following day.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we depart for Lake Manyara National Park, an unspoiled paradise renowned for its abundance of birds and tree-climbing lions. The park is framed by the dramatic western escarpment of the Rift Valley to the west and the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara to the east. The lake, home to thousands of flamingos during the rainy season, covers a significant portion of the park and fluctuates with the seasons. The name Manyara comes from the Maasai word ‘emanyara,’ a plant used to build protective enclosures around family homesteads (bomas).
The park’s diverse vegetation ranges from savannah to evergreen forests. As you explore, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, elephants, and, if you’re lucky, lions lounging in the trees. After a delightful lunch and an extensive game drive, we head to our luxury partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we depart for the Ngorongoro Crater. This breathtaking destination appears like a forgotten world, hidden by steep volcanic walls. Within the crater lies a pristine wilderness, featuring sweeping savannahs, pockets of acacia woodland, and glistening lakes and swamps. Formed two to three million years ago when a massive volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself, Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its geological wonders and as a natural reserve with some of the densest large mammal populations in Africa.
The descent into the crater is an adventure in itself. Upon reaching the crater floor, you’ll find yourself amidst large herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 bird species. The crater also offers the best chance to see the endangered black rhino in the open grasslands.
After a delightful lunch and an extensive game drive in the park, we head back to Arusha, marking the end of our unforgettable adventure.
